Teenfocus goes from strength to strength
Referrals to Teenfocus and Childfocus totalled 625 families for all of 2008.
From January to July in 2009 the number of referrals has increased to 675 for just a 7 month period.
However this means that there is added pressure on our resources. To help alleviate this we are asking for your support by donating to the ISPCC or by becoming a Mentor to a child or young person.

The strength of the Teenfocus service can best be described by one of the service users below;
“The ISPCC helped change my life forever. I used to never talk to people and share my problems. I was constantly hiding my emotions, never going to school, always sick until I landed in hospital and my auntie told the doctors about my accident and that’s when the ISPCC got involved and helped me change my ways and helped me find a bigger and happier life. They supported me and my decisions which one of which was to leave school and start on my successful hairdressing career. When everyone else didn’t understand, they helped me find the light at what was a very dark, bleak and lonely tunnel. For 12 years, I used to be scared to walk alone and used to always be watching my back. The ISPCC have helped me find an environment that is safe and welcoming. I still have problems from time to time but with the help and support from my personal ISPCC worker, I will keep shining and seeing all the great things in my life. This is a great organisation and I’m thankful it was here for me when I decided to change my ways. Thank you.”
Teenfocus worked with young people around issues relating to anger, self-esteem, social isolation, social skills, to name a few. The continued success of the Teenfocus service is due to the commitment and dedication of the Teenfocus workers and volunteers.
